How to Immigrate to Canada

An adventure spanning three continents and countless generations. A step-by-step quest for a home and a country to build it in. The story of a fitted tuxedo for a groom without a groom and his lost Canadian prince. It’s also the story of the many legal victories in the GLBT movement and all the tiresome work that still has to be done. It’s a celebration of the Great North, where less may be more, and an exploration of the immigrations we are each making every day.

Official Selection, 2010 Naperville Independent Film Festival. Screened on Triangle Stratos Television in Auckland. Part of the Cinetopia Film Festival.

Excerpts from the stage version of the script were performed live at OUTwrites‘ Four Voices, No Walls (a Now Critic’s Pick), Quebec Playwrights Deliver, and The Gestation Series

The film has been featured on the Marriage Equality website. The filmmaker’s personal story of coming to Canada is also included in the collection of immigration stories at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
